I'm not sure if Marta did this to McCain deliberately or by accident - but this is what he looks like in our kitchen right now... :)

I wanted to embed a small opinion poll here - was curious who my readers (if there're any left, of course) were planning to vote for in the States. But the polls feature on Blogger doesn't work and I've been too busy to look for alternatives.

The thing is, I've been in touch with a few old friends recently and realized that their political preferences haven't changed. They seem to have become a lot more passionate about it all, but that's understandable, right?

P.S. Marta doesn't know anything about McCain or Obama. But she does know a little about Yushchenko, Tymoshenko and Putin... Actually, with this last one, we realized about half a year ago that it was time for us to get used to self-censorship, because what Marta was saying about him - in English, of all languages - was, well, somewhat embarrassing... :) With Tymoshenko, she insists on calling her Yulka...

  2. Obama. There is no conceivable way I could vote otherwise. I hope that I get my absentee ballot in time. I don't actually trust them to count the Federal Emergency Write-In ballots.

  3. i'll be voting for bob barr, a minor candidate of little consequence.

neither of the major candidates speaks to my belief of what government should be about.

  4. I was leaning McCain, as I liked his independent streak (and because I am very concerned about a Democratic sweep of the legislative and executive branch)... but I am so disappointed with McCain in recent weeks, his bending over backwards to the most backward, war-hooping irresponsible factions of American conservatism, that I will now be voting for Bob Barr. I am a conservative libertarian, and am very unhappy with the GOP in recent years.

  5. I haven't been pleased with the Republicans in general, but I'm definitely voting for McCain/Palin.

Obama lacks the gravitas and is too radical to be a world leader, and has illustrated a lack of understanding on foundational international and economic policies.

McCain/Palin are imperfect, but are, IMO, much better suited for executive leadership of the US.

  6. I used to hold some respect for McCain but have been utterly appalled by the sleazy campaign he has run and his choice of the staggeringly unqualified Palin for the post of VP.

Obama impresses me as smart, a careful thoughtful thinker, and much more mainstream than many Democrats (perhaps even too mainstream in this time period). I have confidence in his abilities and in those of the team he has constructed around himself.

In this crucial time in our history, I cannot imagine tossing my vote onto a 3rd-party protest candidate. Obama will be my choice.

  8. I know that this post is very late about your question and the election topic, but after nearly a year in office, Obama has proven to be a unqualified, arrogant, far left statist. I wasn't crazy about McCain. I love Palin. She embodies American principals. These are rarely understood by elitist who love to take power, regulate every one's life, tax and steal.
The idea of a true frontierswoman, a hunter and a business owner and a Governor impressed me. A pro-life pro- woman feminist who refuses to back down when others try to destroy her. I hope to vote for her in 2012.
