I've learned with Marta that the more routine something is, the faster it will be forgotten, replaced by something as routine. Every once in a while, I force myself to write down things about Marta that I don't even notice anymore - it's really nice to re-read this stuff a year or so later. Sometimes I also force myself to take pictures of Kyiv (or Moscow, or Istanbul) that reflect nothing but the totally ordinary present moment.
