I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been reading this every day hoping that your father would turn up OK...my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
Neeka, I looked at your father's picture and realized that he was my tennis coach for a short while...many years ago...I was 8...my God. I could not recognize him from one picture you had (your dad, your mom and your little girl), but just now, after I posted my comment, I went to your gallery and looked at a big picture you have there and I read his full name...I remember him very vividly. Neeka, I am so so so sorry.
I am so so sorry, Neeka. I kept coming back here hoping to find good news. I wish you, Mishah and your mom all the strength you'll need. It is such a pity that Marta doesn't get to spend more time with her grandfather. I really wish things would have been different.
Through your extraordinary daily blogs we have all, to some extent, experienced something well beyond that of a national media campaign (as in the UK). It has been as though we were there, a few steps behind.
My condolences to you and your family, and all who knew him.
Neeka, my deepest condolences to you and your family. I am so very sorry, and sad, for your loss. I know nothing can make this time easier for you, but I do hope you can find some consolation in knowing that he is at peace now, and he is safe again.
My deepest condolences, Neeka. What a chilling account of offialdom's apathy and indifference towards others. May your memories of him, and the expressions of sympathy here, bring you some comfort.
I'm just heartbroken. I've been checking back over and over hoping to hear that he was home safe. I'll pray for you and your mom and especially your dad.
Veronica, Writing from Kharkiv now, but we've crossed paths in spirit a few times along the way that you didn't know, such as Global Voices. I've never posted a message to this blog before, but just learned of your papa and had to say something. What, I don't know, as I do know there are hardly words at a time like this that make much difference. Except maybe just knowing they exist, and they come from the heart. I'm thinking of you and your family, and of course of your dear papa. He continues in his own way now, same as in life, but still in this life in the hearts of people he loves, who love him, and even in the hearts of people who never had a chance to meet him personally. I wish you well in the coming days, as you heal to celebrate his life and the very obvious love he inspired.
Dear Veronica, I've lost a parent too. It's the worst feeling, but they are always with you in spirit. Take care, my thoughts are with you and your family. Love, Solana
