Water from the kitchen sink backed up not only into the apartment's bathtub but the apartment's bathtub next door. Angry neighbors banging on the door all morning--I learned a lot of Russian plumbing words there.
All pretty standard fare for Russia, them. In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, you'd be paying about $700-$1,000 per month for one of them.
I looked at one which has an enormous dog out on the balcony, and I mean a huge, hairy, Russian dog which looked like the offspring of a bear and a horse. I don't know if we were expected to feed it or not, but he looked hungry. Yeah, that place was a dump, and going for $1,200 per month.
I think I lived in one of those places!

The commentary was great though. I was laughing out loud in the library readin them.
ReplyDeleteAll that racism, though, in the original ads, how do people live with themselves? Grr.
