So very painful to read Natasha Mozgovaya's February 2006 interview with Anna Politkovskaya, so unbearable - and so interesting. But it's in Russian, and it's huge, and it'd be very difficult to pick things to translate and to leave the rest untranslated... Sorry.

  1. You asked a few days ago if anyone was reading this. Funny-- I check it every day, but everything since last Monday has just appeared for me right now... I was beginning to worry that you'd fallen off the edge of the Internet!

    Keep up the good work!

  2. Interesting interview. She mentions that her newspaper is not financed by oligarchs, which is not exactly true - 49% of "Novaya Gazeta" is owned by former USSR-president Mikhail Gorbachev (not a poor man), and Aleksandr Lebedev who is former KGB officer, financist, owner of National Reserve Bank and now a deputy in Duma. By all means an oligarch. Lebedev is also member of the pro-Kremlin party "United Russia". Should be intersting info for those who think Kremlin is responsible for her murder.

  3. Mozgovaya's interview was conducted in February 2006.

Gorbachev and Lebedev didn't buy into Novaya Gazeta until June 2006.
