Eleven days before the 20th anniversary, here's a Chernobyl resource: - I've just found it, am looking at their pictures...

The section with photos taken before 1986 is too heartbreaking... not because the photos are anything special but because of what happened to all that ordinary life.

Their forum seems like an interesting and informative place to explore.

At least part of the site is in English, and there's also an English-language corner of the forum.

  2. Thanks for this link. I have a morbid fascination with Chernobyl that I can't really explain. Something about being a CIS-ophile, an environmentalist, and a kid whose consciousness of world affairs really emerged in 1985-86.
