The #2 is especially fascinating. When i for the first time discovered this Kyiv corner-- it was a shock that such a landscape is possible in the very downtown. Back in 2002 one could climbe from L'vivs'ka sq. down to Vozdvyzhens'ka ST by the abandoned staircase and feel like in anothe world.. But, evidently, much has changed since that time.
I want to try that slope! Marta is sweet. Cool sign photos.
You better not or you'll end up on a huge, surreally monstrous construction site down below... :-))) I should've taken a picture of it, too, but it felt more harmonious to pretend it doesn't exist... As EsTee mentioned, the area down there in the huge ravine really was like another world just a few years ago, a ghost town, eerie but very tempting, too... Then of course someone suddenly realized how much money they could make if they built all those huge apartment buildings (or are they building offices there?) and now we have a construction going on down there...
The same thing happens here. They build everywhere they can without thinking about what is lost or what it will be like in the future. Sometimes the build office space before they have any renters. Cool that you get NPR. I always listen to Weekend Edition. Good luck at the doctor.2/18/2006 04:51:01 AM
