I admit I'm somewhat jumpy right now: it's 2:30 am and suddenly I hear something that sounds either like fireworks, or like a series of explosions; I go out to the balcony and stand there listening, waiting for the sound of ambulances; it gets quiet very soon, and I know these were fireworks, perhaps marking the end of someone's private party...

I can't wait for our Istanbul vacation.
